Individual
therapy

Individual therapy is the therapeutic process through which clients meet one on one with a trained professional therapist. The therapeutic process in individual therapy sessions lends itself as a safe and confidential platform in which the client is able to explore emotions, beliefs, behaviors, and address any challenging and pressing concerns. Through this therapeutic process clients are also able to identify aspects of their lives they envision changing, learn more about themselves in relationship with others, identify opportunities for growth, and ultimately aim towards desired change. Though individual therapy is a one on one therapeutic setting, because of the overarching systemic theory of Marriage and Family Therapy the client and therapist will engage in a relational approach seeking to understand client’s presenting concerns through a systemic and relational lens which allows client to understand and be understood within the context he/she exists.

Couples/Marital
Therapy

Because couple and marital therapy involves two individuals and the dynamics that exist in their relationship, the therapeutic process involves breaking down barriers to create a healthy relational process through which clients are able to find safe and healthy ways to explore emotions, beliefs, needs, behaviors, and address any pressing concerns. Through this process clients can identify aspects of their relationship they envision changing, learn more about themselves in relationship with others, identify opportunity for growth, and move towards desired change. The therapist and couple become a team aiming to build hope and confidence in the relationship connection. Together they will find solutions that not only meet the individual needs of each individual but also the collective need of the relational system.

Family
therapy

Similar to couple/marital therapy family therapy involves more than one individual. In fact, in family therapy all members of the nuclear family, stepfamily, or in some cases members of the extended family are encouraged to participate in the family therapy sessions. Through the process of family therapy, the therapist helps families address important issues that may interfere with the healthy functioning of the family as well as help individuals in the family unit find their place and voice within the family system.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocesing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy very unlike traditional talk-therapy.  EMDR takes a different approach as it “rewires” your brain through the use of eye movements, so that the intensity of the feelings associated with past trauma are significantly reduced. EMDR will not erase your memories, but it will desensitize memories that have led to the creation of negative core beliefs about self. EMDR is a highly researched, evidence based psychotherapy that is used throughout the world.  Some of Creative Harmony Clinical Services’ providers are EMDR trained; if you are interested in incorporating EMDR in your sessions please make sure you communicate this during your intake as not all of our providers are trained.
